Governor Ron DeSantis Signs “Emily Adkins Prevention Act”
Fernandina Beach, Florida. The “Emily Adkins Prevention Act” (SB 612) is now a Florida Law. Emily Adkins at age 23 died from a massive pulmonary embolism stemming from blood clots associated with an ankle fracture on Oct 21, 2022.

Emily Elizabeth Adkins age 23 died on October 21, 2022 from a blood clot stemming from an ankle fracture. To continue her work and values this private foundation has been created to ensure her values and her work continue in our community.
Our mission
It is the Mission of EMILY’S PROMISE, INC to raise awareness of blood clots, especially those associated with ankle fractures and what can be done to help prevent a pulmonary embolism, provide an educational scholarship for those seeking to pursue healthcare, to promote kindness as a community value through paid, sponsored events and recognitions, pursue legislative advocacy to help improve laws related to blood clot prevention and awareness, provide housing assistance to qualified applicants.
